Banks DIH Limited and Citizens Bank will team up to host the Citizens Bank/GT Beer
Golf Classic tomorrow at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.
It is the second time the foursome tournament will be played this year and will feature some of the top local players and several overseas golfers who participated in the just concluded Guyana Open.
Teams of four players will compete against each other in the foursome and the team with the best combined net score will be declared the champions.
The individual player with the best net will be crowned the Citizens Bank Players Championship winner.
When the tournament was first held in February this year George Bulkan shot an impressive net 63 to win the Citizens Bank Players Cup and piloted his team, the Underdogs which also comprised Ronald Bulkan, Troy Cadogan and Kassim Khan to victory.
Guyana Open men’s champion Avinash Persaud had won the Best Gross prize.
There will also be individual prizes for second and third best net scores. In addition several other attractive prizes will be at stake.
Banks DIH Limited has already announced its team for tomorrow with Clifford Reis – Chairman of both Banks DIH Limited and Citizens Bank playing alongside Christine Sukhram, Gavin Todd and Mark Lashley.
Citizens Bank Managing Director Eton Chester is expected to perform the symbolic tee off of the players at 09:00 hours. Officials of both companies will be on hand to witness the tournament and assist in the presentation of prizes.
Communications Manager of Banks DIH Troy Peters said the first tournament was a success and players can look forward to another exciting day of golf tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Citizens Bank and Banks DIH Limited handed over the Trophies for tomorrow’s event to the Lusignan Golf Club.
Credit and Marketing Manager of Citizens Bank Philip Jaiserrisingh and Communications Manager of Banks DIH Limited Troy Peters presented the trophies to Guy Griffith, Public Relations Officer of the LGC during a simple ceremony at Thirst Park on Friday.
Griffith said the LGC was extremely pleased to be hosting the foursome tournament.
Close to 60 players are expected to compete.
