Lodge resident, Trevor James, appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a simple larceny charge Tuesday morning at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
On October 20, last, James allegedly stole a bicycle, property of Alera Emmanuel from her home at Lot 38 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court on the day in question, Emmanuel told the police that she left her bicycle at the address mentioned, but upon returning home she noticed the bicycle missing. She searched for her ‘bike’ and found it in the defendant’s possession.
When the Chief Magistrate asked James what he did for a living, he said he is a community worker who resides in Lodge.
The matter was reported and the defendant was arrested and charged. The Prosecutor objected to bail due to the fact that James had previous charges of a similar nature. The Chief Magistrate upheld the Prosecutor’s objection and bail was refused.
