Letter to the Sports Editor…The fall of a King

Dear Sports Editor,
It started at Pegasus and concluded there. Mr Matthias has self-destruct. He contributed to his own failure and fell. He literally chased away all the people who knew football administration and could have helped turn around football. Matthias was seen as a savior to football in getting rid of the Klass regime, but blew an opportunity to catapult Guyana’s Football to higher heights, the foundation was there yet he literally demolished all the hard work that was done by his predecessors.  Selfishness took him from glory to gory.
One of Matthias’ downfalls was the re-auditing of an audit that was done by a reputable auditing firm and the cost was mammoth. He claimed it was to be a forensic audit so you could have ascertained who was pilfering the funds. We are yet to know, will we ever know.
Imagine working in the GFF office and not entering the office of the accountant for 1 year to enquire on how the accounts are set up, how it is done, he never sought financial advice.
Insecurity caused many executive members to be ostracized.
Matthias made many decisions on his own on the pretext that he had a mandate from FIFA and if anything goes wrong he is accountable.
Another of his traits aiding his downfall was the constant untruths. Those were pedaled to the Minister of Culture, Youth & Sports, Banks DIH Managers, the Travel Agency, GFF Executives, the Congress, even FIFA, CONCACAF & CFU, the footballers, spectators, many Hotel Owners, many transportation providers, the Referees and Coaches.
Matthias has created history in all forms in Guyana. He is the shortest serving President in the GFF, destroying an entire executive in approximately 1 1/2 year and literally close down football in Guyana. The FIFA Officials said Guyana were on the brink of being suspended but they realized that football would have suffered and not Matthias.
He promised to liquidate the debts incurred by the previous administration, instead racked up millions of other debts to add on to the other millions inherited.
One early failure was the withdrawing of the Beach Soccer team from the CONCACAF tournament and Guyana was fined, the signs were there yet were not seen. Another disaster was when Guyana entered a U16 female team to play in a CFU tournament yet Guyana did not have a vibrant female football tournament.  The result was embarrassment for Guyana with the team conceding in excess of 40 goals.  A U16 Male team was sent to participate in a CFU tournament with little preparation time and with no money.
He vowed to get the goal project going and chastised and castigated the previous administration of mismanagement, after 18 months we are still the same place or further back.  Matthias could be credited with starting the lawlessness by playing a final with one of the established Guyana Tournament (Kashif & Shanghai) that have gained worldwide recognition when he was Secretary of the GFA. Yet when one friendly associations attempted to do the same, high handedness stepped in, he initiated an illegal Congress and banned and suspended left, right and center.
The icing on the cake or the straw that broke the camel back was when Matthias publically said that Guyanese born in the Diaspora were foreigners and would not be considered for selection or words to that effect. The Senior National team was humiliated by Caribbean Minnows and he said that they did well. How can one be so absurd?
Matthias has been recently saying since his ousting he has seen development in his tenure, well my dear sir this is a fabrication of your imagination, you are disillusioned and probably suffering from some form of myopic and incurable illusion.
What I hope that you do is to keep as far away as you can from football because you have no clue on how to administer football, stick to Brokerage.
