Berbice Police used their authority to subdue their opponents to walk away with championship honours at the New Amsterdam Town Day dominoes competition.

In the action which took place on Friday evening at the New Amsterdam Town Hall, the Police scored a runaway 86 games to take the seven-team competition. Demerara Distilleries Limited came in second with 79 games ahead of New Amsterdam Killers on 78, Cambio Market Boys and Sentinel Security who battled for a joint 75 games, while the Guyana Defence Force guarded the rear with 67 games.
The seventh team and organizer, Market Constabulary, who had scored 79 games, was disqualified from their own competition due to some infractions.
Leading the Police assault was vice captain Assistant Superintendent Doodnarine Persaud with 18 games, while he received admirable support from Aden Nicholson with 17 games. Other outstanding players were Michael Nurse of NA Killers with 18 games, Calvin Duncan of NA Constabulary and Samantha Smith of NA Killers with 17 games apiece.
The loves birds were Andy Bell of Sentinel Security, policeman Petamber Sookra and Joel Chisholm of the GDF.
The police team was captained by Assistant Superintendent and Sport Officer Terrence Brown, with Vice Captain Assistant Superintendent Doodnarine Persaud, Cadet Officer Alistair Roberts, Aden Chisholm, Sookra and Anthony Scipio.
