Bush Lot New Generation defeated Achievers in their final Zone A (West Berbice) preliminary match to emerge as runner-up to Blairmont Community whilst advancing to the quarter finals of the Elizabeth Styles Under-19, 50-over cricket competition in Berbice.
Playing at the Bath ground, Achievers choosing to bat first was bowled out for 127 in 12.1 overs with Rennison Mitchell lading with 31. Doing the damage for Bush Lot was this year’s Guyana Under-15 off spinning all-rounder Kris Ramnarine who snared 6-25 from 6 overs, medium pacer Imran Khan took 2-8 from 2 overs.
When Bush Lot responded, Achievers Berbice Under-19 pacer Grisean Grant picked up three early wickets which were largely responsible for them being 27-4 at one stage before Shawn Smith and Winston Joseph halted the slide and saw Bush Lot home.
The two featured in an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 104 to see Bush Lot to 131-4 in 20 overs. Smith smashed 50* (5×4 2×6) and Joseph 30*. Bowling for Achievers, Grisean Grant took 3-34 from 7 overs.
