24-year old woman found hanging in Eccles apartment

Police have detained the husband of a 24-year old woman who was found hanging by a bed sheet from the ceiling of her Eccles, East Bank Demerara apartment early yesterday morning.
The woman Sharello Roberts was reportedly discovered hanging by her husband at around 01:30 hours, a few minutes after they returned home from a wake.
According to reports the couple had an argument shortly after returning home and the woman reportedly went into her bedroom and locked herself in.
When her husband finally got the door opened, he saw her hanging from the ceiling and raised an alarm.
A neighbour told this newspaper that she awoke around 02:00 hours and when she peered outside, she saw a number of police ranks surrounding the couple’s apartment.
When she went out onto the road to investigate further, she saw the woman’s husband in the police vehicle.
A police source told Kaieteur News that while the police have not ruled out suicide, they have take the precaution to detain the husband while they await the results of a post mortem examination.
