Two inmates remanded at the Georgetown Prisons on separate murder charges, have been charged for drug
trafficking in prison.
Trevor Adams and Brian Heywood appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning, and pleaded not guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
It is alleged that on October 15, last, Adams had 83 grammes of cannabis in prison for trafficking purposes. His fellow inmate, Heywood, was busted the same day with 15 grammes of marijuana.
They were both remanded to prison. Adam’s case was transferred to Magistrate Judy Latchman and the trial is set to start on October 28.
