Ace Warriors, Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) and Sophia recorded victories when the Georgetown Cricket
Association (GCA)/New Building Society 40-over competition continued Sunday.
At GNIC, Ace Warriors overcame the home team by 48 runs. The visitors batted first and scored 224-8 off their allotted 40 overs. Levar Douglas led with 45; Murtland Ward made 38, Keron George 31, Afzal Gafoor 24 and Christopher Dick 22. Marcel Mentor snared 3-33. GNIC were bowled out for 176 in 28.5 overs in reply. Ryan Shun stroked 81 (12×4,2×6), Sheldon Perch assisted with 17, Joshua Persaud and Christopher Campbell chipped in with 15 and 13 respectively.
Delon Azore grabbed 4-30 and Romario Campbell 2-20.
At MYO, the home team overcame University of Guyana (UG) by three runs. Batting first the host posted 170 all out in 34.2 overs. Richard Latiff scored 40, Navendra Persaud 23 and Shafeek Ishmile 20. Ryan McCall claimed three wickets while Michael Shallim, Dennis Haywood and Omesh Dhanram had two each. UG threatened but were restricted for 167-9 in 40 overs in reply. Leon Williams cracked 34 and Dhanram 17; Imtiaz Pooran captured 4-20, Persaud 2-20 and Latiff who conceded 11 off the final over in which the visitors needed 14, took 2-45.
At UG ground, Sophia overcame Diplomats in their encounter.
Meanwhile on Saturday, UG went down to Sophia by 36 runs. Sophia scored 102 all out in 24 overs. L. Griffin made 23, V. Barrow 19 and O. Barrow 15. Lloyd George picked up 3-11, Haywood 2-16, Shallim 2-19 and Dhanram 2-26. UG were sent packing for 66 in 13 overs in reply. Dharam got 14 as D. Peters grabbed 5-8, Griffin 3-19 and G. Steven 2-18.
At GNIC, Everest got the better of Ace Warriors by six wickets. Ace Warriors were skittled for 128, batting first. Romario Nepal scored 25 and Keron George 24. Khemraj Ramdeen bagged 5-33, Riyad Sattaur 3-26 and Javed Rasheed 2-22. Everest responded with 130-4 in 17.2 overs. Sumat Bhola cracked 58 (11×4,2×6) and Ramdeen 43 (7×4). Azore claimed 3-17.
