Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Diplomats, Everest and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) registered victories when the latest action in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Banks Malta Supreme U-13 competition concluded last weekend.
At YMCA, DCC defeated Transport Sports Club (TSC) by 33 runs. TSC batted first and managed 241-10 in 15 overs. Adrian Hinds led with 22, Toney Adjodha made 15 and Devon Allen 10. Daniel Mootoo grabbed 4-17. DCC replied with 268-8 in 25 overs. Dwayne Dick scored 14 and Garrick Persaud 13.
Diplomats overcame GCC by 11 runs. Batting first GCC scored 268-8 in 25 overs with extras contributing a healthy 104. Diplomats replied with 279-9 in 25 overs. Nicholas Williams made 17, Al Feroze Zakir and Jonathan St. Hill 15 each, Treyjohn Prince and Joshua Campbell 12 apiece. Yohance Angoy took 2-17. At Malteenoes SC, Gandhi Youth Organisation beat Everest in their encounter.
On Saturday, at the said venue, DCC defeated Malteenoes Sport Club (MSC) by 95 runs. DCC batted first and rattled up 224-2 in 25 overs. Sachin Singh and Dwayne Dick were their leading batsmen with 13 and 11 respectively. Shaquille Charles and S. Sankar took one scalp each.
In reply, MSC were restricted for 129-8 in 25 overs. Wayne Bollers was the only batsman that reached double figures with 15. Daniel Mootoo snared 3-11 and Alfeie Henry 2-8.
Everest got the better of Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 63 runs.
GCC took first strike and scored 147 but suffered 13 dismissals. Sanjay Persaud made 13 and Yohance Angoy 10. Hariel Tilku grabbed 3-4. Everest responded with 210, losing 11 wickets in the process. Yeudistir Persaud scored 13 and Tilku 10. Zackery Jodah captured 4-11.
The following are some of the competition regulations of the tournament; 1.The pitch shall be 21 yards in length. 2. The ball shall be 4¾ ozs. 3. Each Team shall comprise of 11 players. Players must be born on or after 1st June 2001. 4. Each game will consist of one innings per side with each innings being of 25 overs duration (may be reduced if time does not allow or for bad weather). 5. The batting side shall be divided into pairs, only 5 pairs shall bat. Each pair will bat for 5 overs. 6. Batsmen shall have unlimited “lives” (dismissals) but each dismissal shall result in 10 runs being deducted from the total. 7. Batsmen shall change ends after each dismissal except on the last ball of the over. 8. Each player on the fielding side MUST BOWL at least 2 overs, with the exception of the wicket-keeper. No bowler shall bowl more than 3 overs, except in the case where there has been an injury to a member of his team and he has been chosen to bowl an extra over by the captain of the batting side. 9. Each TEAM shall commence its innings with a score of two hundred (200) runs.
10. The winning team shall be the side scoring the higher number of runs after deductions for dismissals (the fall of wickets) have been made.
