Imran Khan (126), Zameer Khan (62), Shastri Persaud (52) steer Chesney to playoffs

Chesney inflicted a heavy defeat on Jai Hind to end their preliminary matches on top of Zone I and thus becoming
one of the first teams to earn a place in the last 16 playoffs of the 2014 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice.
Leading them to their latest victory were firstly former Guyana T20 batting star Imran Khan, who slammed 126 which included 13 fours and 8 sixes and which was his second century of the competition, Zameer Khan with 62 (4 fours and 1 six) and former Berbice T20 cricketer Shastri Persaud with 52 (1 four and 5 sixes), helping Chesney post 321 for 6 in 40 overs, now the highest team score in the competition so far, beating the 318 for 5 in 35 overs scored by Young and Restless of Reliance Abandon against Canefield. When Jai Hind replied, Safraz Khan took 4 for 20 to see them bowled out for 164.
Big Star of Ulverston also advanced to the playoffs after defeating Kildonan to end their Zone L preliminary campaign undefeated and therefore earn the right to go through. Tasha Forrester led the way with 70 for them. Also scoring a half century was Dwayson Watson of Mibicuri Strykers.

At Mibicuri, Mibicuri Strykers beat Young Adventure by 113 runs. Mibicuri Strykers 200 for 8 in 30 overs with Dwayson Watson 64 and Khemraj Paltu 46. Paul Campbell took 3 for 15, Bisnauth Jhappan 2 for 30 and David Hinds 2 for 41. Young Adventurers 87 in 20.5 overs with Khemraj Paltu 3 for 22, Komal Ganesh 2 for 5 and Lakeram Paltu 2 for 32.
At Belvedere, Tamarind Root beat Belvedere Battle Steel by 9 wickets. Belvedere Battle Steel 62 in 7.5 overs. Dilip Rengasammy 3 for 15, Samuel Deonarine 2 for 3 and Adrian Singh 2 for 12.
At Albion, Albion Community Center beat Toopoo Rising Star by 9 wickets. Toopoo Rising Star 81 in 27.1 overs withy Vijay Narain 27. Asif Ally took 3 for 23, Suresh Dookna 3 for 8 and Veerapen Permaul 2 for 14. Albion CC 84 for 1 in 15 overs with Veerapen Permaul 35 n.o.
