A student of the Buxton Community High School succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown
Public Hospital Corporation yesterday afternoon, after he was struck by a vehicle on the Enmore Public Road, while riding home on his bicycle.
Dead is 14-year-old Dexter Peters of Paradise, East Coast Demerara.
According to his grandmother Verika Peters, Dexter was sent to a nearby shop to buy sugar and although he was reluctant, he followed instructions.
She said that her grandson was struck down around 14:30 hours while on his way back.
She said that the driver of the vehicle which hit him rushed him to the GPHC, where he was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit and placed on life support.
However, the young man passed away a while later.
The grieving woman said the matter is being investigated at the Enmore Police Station. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently apprehended and is assisting with investigations.
