DEAR EDITOR,
I have been reading with much alarm the exchanges published by Kaieteur News in recent days. Guyana should be worried…very worried. GRA is no ordinary body. It is tasked with the collection of the country’s revenues.
I am not much of a Facebook person, but on Tuesday, I was drawn to a comment on Stabroek News’ Facebook page, which had a reporting link on the appearance of Glenn Lall and his wife at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
One of the postings attributed to a Suresh Singh is most unprofessional, ill-informed and wicked. It smacks of bias and highlights the extent of the GRA targeting Glenn Lall. Suresh Singh, I happen to know, is a GRA Auditor and a qualified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Our public officers are supposed to be impartial. How can our auditors be impartial when they would have already formed an opinion?
Mr Khurshid Sattaur has said publicly that he takes a firm stance on the behaviour of his staffers. The auditing bodies that govern the accounting professionals should be paying attention?
Kumar Singh
