Outstanding University of Guyana and Hugh Wooding Law School graduate,

Tanicia Shanell Daniels, became the most recent addition to the list of female Guyanese attorneys.
Daniels was admitted to the bar yesterday before Justice Sandra Kertzious and a courtroom of family members and supporters. Her petition was presented by Attorney -at –Law, Glen Hanoman, who noted the academic achievements of the young Lawyer
Hanoman said that the 23 year-old, went to the Sacred Heart Primary School and Bishops’ High School before attending the University of Guyana, where she was awarded for her exceptional performance as a law student.
He said that while attending the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago, Daniels also made the honour role, “which is not an easy task.”
Hanoman also pointed out that the new attorney, who completed her in service training at his Law Firm also managed to excel at extra curricula activities, even as she studied.
The attorney further noted that while working as his protégé, Daniels displayed the kind of strength of character which is always essential to a good lawyer.
“I feel privileged to present this petition since there is always room for good lawyers and I know there will always be room for her wherever she decides to take her practice,” Hanoman said, as he expressed confidence that Daniels would be an exceptional attorney.
In accepting the petition, Justice Kertzious commended the young attorney on her achievements and urged her to dedicate quality and quantity time to her practice.

“You must have love for what you do. Never let it become a means to an end”, the Judge told Daniels, yesterday.
With heartfelt gratitude to her parents and other supporters, Daniels vowed to keep the high standards of the legal profession.
She noted that no duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.
“And so on this prestigious occasion, I’m honoured to have the privilege of expressing my heartfelt gratitude not only to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who has made this all possible and to whom all praise and thanks belong, but also to all the giants in my life on whose shoulders I have stood….I will certainly endeavour to keep the high standards of the legal profession, bearing in mind that excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude and every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it,” The attorney stated.
She will be attached to the law firm of Hanoman’s and Associates.
Meanwhile Jed Vasconcellos was also admitted to the bar yesterday after his petition was presented to Justice Brassington Reynolds.
Vasconcellos is the son of Paul and Beverley Vasconcellos. His parents migrated to Brazil when he was a toddler. Vasconcellos grew up in Brazil until he was 11 years-old.
His petition was presented by Attorney -at -Law Nigel Hughes.
In accepting his petition Justice Reynolds addressed Vasconcellos partially in Portuguese.
Justice Reynolds opined that he was happy to see two most deserving young people admitted to the profession. He urged them to take advantage of their great educational background to contribute to returning the profession to the level it once enjoyed. Vasconcellos joins the firm of Hughes, Fields and Stoby.
