It was a perfect day of racing and upsets were the order of the day with the biggest coming in the feature A and Lower Event. Newly imported animal Princess She is Not of the Shariff Racing Stable ridden by Trinidadian Jockey Razack proved every one wrong as it upset the applecart and left the favourites in the dust.
The racehorse choose just the right occasion to score its first victory since coming to Guyana as it dusted the field for a close gate to pole victory in the feature A and Lower event when the Kennard Memorial Turf Club in collaboration with the PPP/C held a feature one day horserace meet.
Princess She Is Not has shown speed since coming to Guyana and has always been in the money in three races so far. She went out early against its more illustrious opponents Score Even, California Strike and Grande De Roja. The horse never let up and held on even as it was being pressed by Score’s Even in the final stages. She still had enough left in the tank to edge home for the victory worth $1.5M and the President Cup in the 1600M event. Score’s Even, Grande De Roja and California Strike rounded out the money.
Other winners were in the were Appealing Harvest in the D3 Non Winners event, Release The Beast in the G1 and lower event, Silent Night in the G3 and lower Event, Settling Star in the 2 year old West Indies Bred event, East To Win in the I and lower race, Slim Shady in the two year old Guyana Bred event, Famous Pride in the J1 and lower race, Red Jet in the J3 and lower race and Regina in the K and lower race.
The top stable was the Shariff Stable with Razack being crowned the champion jockey and Glendon Sooklall the champion trainer. (Samuel Whyte)
