The Everest/GNIC encounter was the only match which ended in a draw, while Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) all registered outright wins as the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Hadi’s two-day first division cricket competition ended yesterday in the City.
MSC beat Police at MSC, GCC got past Transport Club (TSC) at Bourda and DCC hammered Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) inside a day at DCC. Everest, who batted out the entire opening day and a part of yesterday, drew their game with GNIC at Everest.
At MSC, the host began the day on 66 and fell for 155 with Skipper Kellon Carmichael leading from the front with a responsible 67 as pacer Seon Daniels took 3-54 and left-arm spinner Anthony Adams, who failed to show up yesterday, had 2-11.
Police in reply reached 112-9 declared with Rawle Browne hitting 61 as Steven Jacobs (4-29) and Steven Sankar (4-36) did the damage with the ball for MSC. Set 143 to win, they reached 144-4 with Jacobs batting himself back into form with an accomplished 82 before he pushed forward to leg-spinner Pernell London and was caught behind with victory nine runs away. Carmichael chipped in with 24 as MSC won by six wickets. Scores: Police (187 & 112-9 declared), MSC (155 & 144-4)
At Bourda, Transport Sports Club (TSC) resumed on 133-3 and progressed to 264 with Sunil Singh finishing unbeaten on 83 as Raj Nanan (5-91) did the bulk of the damage for GCC who were set 131 for victory and ended on 132-1 with Robin Bacchus not out on 55. Martin Pestano-Bell supported with 40 as GCC won by nine wickets.
Pacer Ronsford Beaton, who claimed 6-13 on his GCC debut, did not bowl in TSC’s second innings due to contracting the Chikungunya virus.

At Everest, the home team resumed on their first day score of 271-2 and declared at 330-3 after losing Joseph Perry 113. Tagenarine Chanderpaul carried his overnight 123 to 152 before the declaration was made with Tagenarine’s father, Test batsman Shiv Chanderpaul, unbeaten on 25 in his first match for Everest.
GNIC in reply were dismissed for 191 despite 87 from Shawn DeSouza and 42 from Dexter Solomon. Off-spinner Zaheer Mohamed grabbed 5-37. Everest were 56-1 in their second innings with Tagenarine finishing with 41 not out.

At DCC, Brian Sattuar’s 189, his maiden first division century, half-centuries from First-Class players Derwin Christian, Chris Barnwell and two five-wicket haul from national pacer Paul Wintz insured DCC blew away GYO by an innings and 286 runs on the first day of their one-side match which ended on Saturday
Scores: DCC (403-6 declared), GYO (91 & 38-9 innings closed.
