The Andrew Forsythe T20 Round Robin cricket tournament kicked off last weekend with four games.
In Group A at the Christianburg ground, Dora defeated Christianburg by 6 wickets. Batting first Christianburg were bowled for 93 in 14.3 overs. Ricardo Anderson top scored with 25 and Ronald Anderson 18, while Extras recorded 30. Bishal Mohamed’s hat-trick destroyed Christianburg hopes of winning when he took 5 for 15 from 4 overs.
In reply, Dora made 94 for 4 in 12.3 overs. Lawrence Rampersaud top scored with 55 and Lloyd Roberts 27. G. Fiedtkou took 3 for 21 from 3 overs.
Game two at the same venue saw Bosai losing to West Watooka by 4 wickets. Batting first Bosai were all out for 79 in 12 overs. Top scorer was Wayne Bethune with 13. Wicket takers were Adrian Stewart, Michael Austin and Chris Spencer with two each.
West Watooka replied with 80 for 6 in 12.4 overs. Clayton Van Hersel made 28 and Leon Prince 24. Marlon English was the wicket taker for Bosai with 3 for 10 in 3 overs.
In Group B at the Moriah Elizabeth Ground, Young Achievers won the toss and chose to field. Muritaro Young Warriors scored 216 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Denzil Peters 70, Nick Estwick 45 and Anand Chattergoon 38 led their charge. Kishan Jones took 2 for 29 from 4 overs for Young Achievers who were all out for 112 in 17 overs. Delon Jones took 3 for 26 and Nick Estwick 3 for 30.
Coomacka Exodus defeated Royal Champions by 82 runs. Coomacka Exodus made 133 all out in 14 overs. Andrew Richmond 18, Joshua Ettienne, Keith Simmons and Kurston Thom added 11 apiece. Extras contributed 38. John DeGrella took 3 for 18 from 3 overs.
Royal Champions in reply could only muster 51 all out in 12 overs. Other than the 16 extras no batsman scored double figures. Joshua Ettienne was also good with the ball as he took 4 for 11 from 3 overs. Ateba Edmondson took 3 for 10 from 3 overs and Kurston Thom 2 for 9 from 3 overs.
The competition continues this weekend with 4 games. In Group A Bosai vs Dora and Uprising Young Stars vs Amelia’s Ward at the Christianburg Ground and in Group B Young Achievers vs Coomacka and Royal Champions vs Muritaro Young Warriors at the Moriah Elizabeth Ground. (Jacquey Bourne)
