A Linden construction worker who cuffed his girlfriend when she refused to have sex with him is cooling off in the Camp Street prison having been remanded there last Friday.
According to the charge which was read by Magistrate Judy Latchman on September 30 last, Collis Duke a resident of Linden assaulted his girlfriend, Wenetta Kopin to cause her actual bodily harm at South Amelia’s Ward, Linden. Duke pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Prosecutor, Kerry Bostwick informed the Court that Kopin received injuries as a result of cuffs to her body.
The woman told Magistrate Latchman that her boyfriend assaulted her when she refused his demands to have sex after he took her home on the day in question. “He cuffed me several times…and even threw me on the ground”
The 39 year-old man, who was unrepresented by an Attorney, told the court that he has no prior police issues. Nevertheless he was remanded to prison until October 29, and the case was transferred to the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
