Trouble Shooters take Turning Point tourney
Strikers Sports Club of Meadow Brook drive, Georgetown will honour their long standing member Richie Richardson by organising a dominoes competition for his birth anniversary starting tomorrow at the above named venue.
Twenty one teams are expected to battle for a top prize of $120,000 and a trophy; the runner up will receive a trophy and $60,000 and third place a trophy and $40,000. Entrance fee is $10,000.
The finals will be played on Monday at Dynasty.
The competition is being sponsored by Big Boss Trucking Service, Dynasty Sports Club, Demerara Ice Company Ltd, South View Tavern, Faye Joseph, Patterson and Patterson Associates and Strikers SC.
Meanwhile, Trouble Shooters marked 81 games to win the final when Turning Point hosted a competition recently. Mix Up placed second with 73 games followed by Sparton on 66. Phillip Sargeant scored 16 and Sharon Gerome 14 for the winners, while Gilbert Mendonca registered 16 and Rawl Peters 15 for the runner up team. Leroy Edwards and Dereck Samaroo made 15 each for Sparton who drew the bye to the final.
Mix Up chalked up 70 games to win the semi final ahead of Trouble Shooters with 68 and Turning Point 66. Mark Wiltshire and Mendonca scored 16 apiece for Mix Up. Eric Sardena and Jerome made 15 each for Trouble Shooters; Colin Mc Ewan recorded 15 and Sandra Denny 14 for Turning Point.
Trouble Shooters took home a trophy and $100,000, Mix Up $40,000 and Sparton $20,000. (Zaheer Mohamed)
