Albion Sports Complex is associated with history as the ground hosted the first ever one day international to be played in the West Indies. Today, history is again in the making as the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) will for the first time host a first division final under floodlights when arch rivals Albion Cricket Club tackle Rose Hall Town Gismos and Gadgets in the final of the Berbice River Bridge First Division 50-over final. The match will commence at 2pm.
The BCB and The Berbice Chambers partnered in the past to host the Guyana Independence T20 Cup under artificial lights and Mr David Armogan, Regional Chairman, Region # 6 witnessed the events and then made strong representation to Central Government and finally the lights are here.
The lights were supplied by Musco Lights of the USA at a cost of close $100 million. A committee, headed by BCB First Vice President Anil Beharry was recently formed to administer usage of the lights in a professional manner. The BCB would like to thank the Regional Chairman and the Government of Guyana for the installation of the international quality floodlights and is certain that it will make a difference in the lives of all.
