An alleged affair and the actions of a jealous lover were perhaps the key ingredients that led to the fiery destruction of a house at Half Mile, Potaro Road, Bartica.
On Sunday September 28, last, the two-bedroom domicile occupied by Roxanne James was reduced to ashes.
Reports are that James’ reputed husband was responsible for the act of arson after learning that she was involved in a relationship with another man.
The matter this publication understands, has been gaining the attention of officers of the Bartica Police Station, but the alleged accused is yet to be arrested.
But even as James awaits justice to be served, the Bartica Interim Management Committee (IMC) decided to step in and lend their support to the fire victim.
The move, according to Public Relations and Press Officer, Sherwyn Downer, comes as part of the “IMC’s efforts to continue to reach out to the residents of Bartica.”
And the forthcoming support came in the form of a monetary donation to James. “This is yet another sign of our unwavering support for our community; there is no limit of the good deeds of the IMC,” said a vocal Downer as he underscored that “the IMC has the interest of the people of Bartica at heart.”
