Dhanpaul slams a double century
Zeeburg, All Youths and Number two SC recorded victories when play in the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) 40-over tournament continued on Sunday last.
At Zeeburg, the hosts defeated Western Union by 300 runs. Zeeburg batted first and scored 407 all out in 38 overs. Yatesh Dhanpaul slammed 212 not out and (17×6, 16×4) and Balbindar Shivpersaud made 62.
Western United were sent packing for107 all out in 20 overs in reply.
M. Doodnarine grabbed 4-33 and R. Kellawan 3 for 11.
At La Grange, All Youths overcame Supreme by five wickets. Supreme managed 178 all out in 28.5 overs, batting first. R. Adams scored 53 and M. Bacchus cracked 40. A. Haniff captured 4 for 27 and D. Scott 3 for 27.
All Youths responded with 180 for 5 in 19.1 overs. S. Persaud top scored with 40 and A. Carrington contributed 37; F. Baksh snared 3 for 20.
At Joe Vieira Park, Number Two SC got the better of Christ Ambassadors by 110 runs. Number two SC posted 198 all out in 34.2 overs, taking first strike.
A. Azeez made 38 and S. Mohamed 37. M. Gittens snared 4 for 20 and P. Ashby 3 for 20. Christ Ambassadors were skittled for 88 in 18.3 overs in response. P. Parsram picked up 4 for 33 and J. Mohamed 3 for 1.
