While members of the planning committee are fine tuning preparations to host the annual Essequibo Night, Exhibition and Fair 2014, on October 17 and October 18, next, a senior member within the Region Two Administration has said.
The event is slated to feature 130 booths this year.
According to reports, additional booths will be constructed to accommodate gigantic cows, bulls, sheep, goats and pigs which would be on display to the viewing public.
Several weeks ago, the planning committee met in the Region’s boardroom where discussions were had on the slated two-night events. The theme would be “Fostering Agricultural and Manufacturing Development, promoting our trade potential.”
And in keeping with the traditional activity in the Region, focus would be on showcasing both the Agricultural and manufacturing sectors emerging from Region Two. Farmers who are able to produce huge bunches of plantains, bananas, the largest cassava , best water coconuts, pumpkin, watermelon, including the vine and fruit crops that are grown in the Region would be presented with monetary rewards.
The Essequibo Nite Exhibition and Fair was started by the late Minister of Agriculture, Satyadeow Sawh, who thought it wise that Essequibians should be given an opportunity to showcase produce grown locally.
