It was all smiles on the face of little Princess Babb, who is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), when she received a number of educational aids yesterday from the Mark Benschop Foundation.
Babb is the three-year-old child who sustained burns about her body when her 15-year-old aunt, Shantel Callender’s jilted lover set her grandmother’s La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD)’s house on fire two Mondays ago.
The toddler was more than happy when she was presented with the items.
A number of other children also received educational materials such as haversacks, crayons, pencils, rulers, erasers and water bottles.
Benschop said that the toddler’s story touched him hence he decided to make the donation. He said that the child could use the items while she is in the hospital so she wouldn’t be bored.
The tragedy which occurred around 13:00 hrs on September 22, last, at Lot 201 La Parfaite Harmonie, has also left Babb’s teenage aunt hospitalized; her mother, 20-year-old Zulina Callender, nursing burns about her body, and her mother’s boyfriend, Jason Monroe dead.
