Imlach, Gibson slam 100s, Rutherford hits 98
Tevin Imlach and Andrew Gibson stroked centuries as Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) grabbed first innings points from host Guyana Defence Force (GDF) when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament continued last weekend with one match.
Imlach and Gibson guided the visitors who batted first to 332-3 declared after facing 81.5 overs.
The duo came together with the score on 139-3 and dominated the opposition bowling in brilliant sunshine, featuring in a fourth wicket stand of 193.
Imlach ended unbeaten on 114 while Gibson stroked 102 not out. Earlier Paul O’Neal removed Ronaldo Renee (04) and Raymond Perez (14) leaving the score at 35-2. National U-17 player Sherfene Rutherford then added 104 for the third wicket with Imlach to steady the innings before Rutherford was caught off Ravi Persaud for a well played 79. O’Neal grabbed 2-66 and Persaud 1-70.
GDF began their reply yesterday and were sent packing for 81 in 42.1 overs. Persaud and O Neal were the only batsmen that reached double figures with 14 each. Extra contributed 22 as Lynden Lyght captured 4-28, Yakeni Favourite 3-15 and Rutherford 2-20.
DCC opted not to enforce the follow on which could have resulted in a possible victory, and when stumps were drawn they were 220-4 in 31.5 overs, batting a second time. Rutherford slammed 12 fours and two sixes in a swashbuckling 99 while Raymond Perez scored 82 (9×4) and Ronaldo Renee 36. O Neal and K. Persaud took two wickets.
