The East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) has noted an article in the national newspapers of one
President Bissoondyal Singh (seated centre) with one representative from each of the voting clubs at the East Coast Cricket Board Elections held at the Plaisance Community Centre on August 10, 2014.
Anil Persaud receiving a donation from Raj Singh who is purporting to be the President of the Demerara Cricket Board and some names of who are members of a committee selected to run Cricket on the East Coast. The article went on to say that the other members of the committee were Shameer Shahib, while committee members include Jitlal Jawahirlall, Quancy Cummins, Richard Chaturia and Atamdeo Persaud, among others.
It also said that they will be organization a competition sponsored by Nauth and Sons Motor Spares where the first prize will be $200,000.
According to a release from Bissoon Singh of the ECCB, The East Coast Cricket Board held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 10th August, 2014 in accordance with its constitution and among the many in attendance were parents and sponsors who witnessed the majority voting members exercising their franchise. Among some of the issues discussed were the Demerara Cricket Board and the registration of a private company named DCB Inc. owned by Raj Singh, Anand Sanasie et al where allegedly millions of dollars of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) funds were transferred into that account without the knowledge and consent of the ECCB or the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA).
Incidentally, the ECCB and the GCA have not received any monies for the past four (4) years although they produced all the senior players from Demerara in the national team.
The ECCB AGM mandated the newly elected Executives to take all necessary action including police intervention to retrieve monies intended to manage the affairs of the ECCB and ended up into this private company (DCB Inc.). The ECCB is in this process of fully complying with the instructions of the AGM and Raj Singh et al is fully aware of this, the release stated.
Raj Singh, Anil Persaud, Rayon Griffith etc does not have the authority to set up any Cricket Committee on the East Coast. This is the sole rights of the legitimate members of the ECCB and as Executives we will resist all efforts by anyone who are attempting to take over East Coast Cricket.
Of importance to note, some names on this Committee have been shunned by their very own clubs for mismanagement, malfunction, misbehavior, indiscipline among other issues.
“The East Coast Board is a legally constituted organization and the only authorized body to administer cricket between Abary and Cummings Lodge and is therefore advising its members and affiliates that this Committee ‘set up’ by Raj Singh under the guise that “clubs have banded themselves together” is a nasty attempt to hijack the operations of the ECCB,” the release noted. “We therefore advise that this ‘committee’ is unconstitutional/illegitimate and bogus and therefore is not authorized to transact any business as it relates to management and administration of cricket on the East Coast of Demerara.”
“We have since successfully engage the Proprietor of Nauth Motor Spares and he assured us that he was tremendously mislead and have since instructed that all funds be refunded and that his company’s name be removed with immediate effect,” the release informed.
It also stated, Please note that the sponsorship by H. Nauth and Sons Contracting Engineering Services and Petrol Station that is currently sponsoring the ECCB T20 competition are unrelated to Nauth Motor Spares.
“We reserve the right to take all necessary actions as it may require and as such we have forwarded all necessary documentations to our lawyers with specific instructions.” The release has been Signed by: Judister Rampersaud, Secretary East Coast Cricket Board.
