Christendeo Deo, 46, of Lot 15 Line Path, Corriverton was released on $300,000 bail on Thursday at the Springlands
Magistrate’s Court, by Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh when he made his first court appearance to answer to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
The matter finally engaged the courts after the file had been with the Director of Public Prosecutions for the past months. Deo was charged with causing the death of Satish ‘Ravi’ Ramdass, 30, in June when Ramdass was struck down by Deo, who was driving motor-pick up GHH 7827, heading along the eastern side of the road, to Skeldon at the time.
Reports are that Deo drove for a further 136 feet before stopping. Ramdass was lying face down and was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Ramdass, a father of three, died of a fractured spine, perforated liver, broken ribs and fractured skull. His legs and jaw were also broken.
Deo was represented by Attorney-at-Law, Krisendatt Persaud and will make his next court appearance on October 10.
