Seventeen year-old fast bowler Levery Miggins grabbed 5-10 from five overs as hosts Meten-Meer-Zorg West defeated
Cornelia Ida (CI) by three wickets in the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) 40-over tournament which continued Sunday last.
CI were toppled for 89 in 20.1overs batting first. Richie Looknauth scored 21 (2×4) and Ameer Khan 11. Miggins was supported by Vishal Jaigobin 2-1 and Mahendra Nandkishore 2-20. The home team replied with 93-7 in 17 overs. Seymour Evans made 32 (3×4 2×6) and Jaigobin scored 18 not out (3×4).
Earlier, Meten- Meer- Zorg West had defeated Tuschen by 40 runs in their first match of the competition at home. Batting first the hosts were bowled out for 176 in 32 overs. Miggins top scored with 42 (1×4 3×6), Evans contributed 24 (3×4 1×6) and Sheldon Alexander 17 (3×4),
V. Kisson claimed 3-37.
In reply Tuschen were bowled out for 136 in 22 overs, V. Kissoon made 25 (4×4) and D. Singh 21(2×4 1×6). Vinod Rajkumar picked up 3-12, Miggins 3-19 and Sheldon Alexander 2-21. The competition continues this weekend.
