With just a few days to go before race day and the excitement building, the entries column for the Alness Turf Club, Banks DIH grand one day horserace meet has climbed to over 70 with many horses owners rushing on board to get their animals registered for the action.
The event, which is slated for Sunday at the club’s track at Alness Corentyne, Berbice, has Guyana number one racehorse Score’s Even leading the entries. The Kentucky Bred Score’s Even is a definite drawing card at any race meet in Guyana. Known for both its speed and stamina, it has a large following, considering its billing as Guyana’s number one horse and premier thoroughbred.
The seven-year-old grey gelding which has been imported by Dennis DeRoop of the Simply Royal Stable in May 2012 from the USA, has so far notched up an impressive record with 11 wins, five second and one third from its 19 starts since entry into racing in Guyana.
As such, thousands are expected to throng to the venue.
It has beaten all and sundry and is badly in need of competition and fans will relish the opportunity to see the animal in action. With the likes of recent Guyana Cup Champion CP Got Even and the inform Treacle not competing all eyes will be on Score’s Even.
The feature Banks DIH Limited ‘A’ class and lower 1600M event has an encouraging winning take of $1M from a total package of $2M and the Banks DIH Limited trophy.
Score’s Even will be looking to score another victory, however the likes of California Strike, Church House, Dark and Lovely, Run Nana Run, Bridal Stone Corner, Young Elite and Set for Fame will be looking to create upsets on race day.
Meanwhile, a bevy of sponsors led by beverage giants Banks DIH Limited, Guyana Tourism Authority, Nand Persaud and Sons Group of Companies, Mohammed ‘Nanko’ Shariff Business Enterprise and Racing Stable, Fazal Habibulla, Attorney at Law Ryan Crawford, J Ashrafalli (Papie) Supermarket, Dennis DeRoop Simply Royal Stable, Choke Gas Station, Kanhai Electrical Agency, R Matadial, Jockey Randolph Richmond and Family among others are on board so far.
The other events listed for the day includes the F and lower 1200M event for a winning purse of $350,000 and trophy. There is the G3 and lower 1400M event for a first prize of $275,000 and trophy. The ‘I and lower 1200M even for a winning take of $200,000 and trophy, the ‘J1’ and lower 1000M event for the winning pocket of $170,000 and trophy.
The J3 and lower horses will race for the $140,000 and trophy first prize over 1100M. The K and lower event will fetch a winning prize of $90,000 and trophy over 1000M, while the race for unclassified animals will be a 4 furlongs event.
The list of entries include Swing Easy, Weekend Surprise, Top Of The line and Marathon Man, Shooting Star, Secret Circle, Silent Night, Sent From Above, Prince Paige, Mary Ann, Affinity, Smarty Light, Royal Cash, Dance For Gold, Lady Secret, The Road Is Mine, Miss Messiah , Prince Bayaya, Wicked Revenge, Royal Cash, Cart Man, Red Steel, Iron Man, Red Jet, Lady Secret, Smarty Light, The Road Is Mine, Slim Shady, Famous Pride and Dance for Gold,
Iron man, Speed Vision, It’s My Time, Quincy, Gangster, Journey, Go Zapper, Windy Killer, Princess Stallion and Royal Intention, Flying Colours, Fit To Fight, Lucky Star, Sophia’s Choice, Brown Boy, Triple S, Sweet Man, Fit To Fight, Sofia’s Choice, Flying Private and Brown Boy among the early entrants in the event.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers.
