Sep 25, 2014 Letters
DEAR EDITOR,
The Guyana Police Force is responding to a Letter to the Editor published in the Kaieteur News of Wednesday September 24, 2014, under the caption “When the police replace the DPP for a fee”.
The Guyana Police Force wishes to state that on August 24, 2014, Rameena Persaud, of Vilvoorden, Essequibo Coast, reported to the police that she was assaulted by her husband, Latchman Bhodnarine. He was arrested on August 25, 2014 and charged on September 04, 2014 and was to appear at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on the said date before Magistrate Sunil Scarce. However, Rameena Persaud nor Lathcman Budharine was in court when the matter was called up. As a result the Magistrate dismissed the case.
A Suddie, Essequibo Coast resident who normally writes letters in the newspapers enquired from the police of the matter and he was provided with the facts. The police are of the opinion that he is the person who has attempted to mislead the public on this matter.
