Dear Sir,
“To change” should be the only consideration. . All political parties except the PPP/C, that asked the electorate to vote for it at the 2011 election, did so with the explicit understanding that they wanted a change of government. That meant, they would have done all that was legal and ethical to bring about that change.
If any party taking part in the 2011 General Elections in Guyana became aware that a change would be a reality; and if that party refused to take the necessary action which, without a doubt would have resulted in the desired change of government, then one would not be in error, if one concluded that the identified party did not enter into the election process in 2011, with the intentions of putting into place a new government.
I am stating categorically that the blame for the nation’s pain and suffering over the past three years must be placed squarely at the feet of the Alliance for Change
(AFC) and that the AFC took part in the General Election in 2011not for the explicit purpose of bringing about a change in government.
I would further state that it seemed as if the AFC, as a result of ethnic, religious and cultural obstacles or allegiances/prejudices was unable to put the interest of the Nation above ethnic narrow-mindedness. If that were so, I may add that AFC has shown that collectively it preferred to endure all manner of hardships under a PPPC Government, than to be master of its own destiny in a government shared with the PNCR.
We may be heading to the Polls soonest. Again the fate of the nation may be in the hands of the AFC. What is expected is a change of government, and what is to be the response to bring about a change of government is now as clear as day; AFC has no excuse this time. At the end of the day, the “ball may well be in its court.” All eyes are on the AFC. “Can it do the right thing?”
In the final analysis the AFC must with confident say “Yes I can!”
