Under the theme “Transformation: Partnering for a better Guyana”, Guyana’s largest Trade and Investment Exposition will commence from October 2nd and conclude three days after.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, 80 per cent of the booths at the Exhibition site are already booked, which is evident of the tremendous interest the event is generating.
The Sophia Exhibition Site will come alive with activity as preparations for the highly anticipated GuyExpo 2014, just days away, intensifies.
According to the Public Relations Manager, Mrs. Chevon Lim, upgrades underway are designed to cater to the needs of all who come to the event, with several changes affected to the Tourism Village, Kids Zone and the addition of a Media Centre.
“The aim is for everyone to understand the design concept for GuyExpo 2014. This year’s theme ‘Transformation: Partnering for a Better Guyana’, highlights the power of partnerships as a catalyst for transforming this endowed land of the free and so to support this year’s developmental theme .
A floral layout ‘Guyana Blooming’ was conceptualized to represent Guyana’s blooming industry sectors responsible for the economic transformation of our flourishing country.” Mrs. Lim also explained that patrons will be enthralled by the ‘Historical Walk’ at the entrance to the site.
She said, “This represents the new paths Guyana continues to blaze while opening up new frontiers of development from the year 1980-2014. Photographs will be placed along this walkway portraying this vigorous development throughout recent years. “
Spectators can also look forward to wholesome entertainment, through steel pan music, fashion displays, talent showcases, kid’s entertainment and a mouth-watering spread of Creole and international cuisine at the food courts.
She said, “This year, a big focus remains on attracting overseas buyers; we are not encouraging our business to only be transactional. For that reason, we have a team working along with the GuyExpo Committee, working inside and outside of Guyana. We can confirm participation from ten countries. They will not only be here as exhibitors but as buyers because we want to create the linkages here. That is why it’s a trade expo.”
As part of the strategy to ensure the successful staging of the activity, Mrs. Lim said that the issue of adequate parking has also been addressed.
“We are anticipating more than 100,000 persons over the four days of this event. We want to ensure that we are prepared to make this an event that they are sure to remember and enjoy. Even in the booths themselves we will deploy Pavilion Managers to manage the flow of patrons to avoid congestion. We have listened to our exhibitors and our consumers and we are catering to their needs,” she declared.
