– corporate, civil society invited to participate
Battle lines have been drawn internally for the Courts Guyana Inc. fifth annual 10km Road Race Classic and 3km Walk/Jog, setting off an ‘in-house’ competition, which goes down on Sunday at the Courts Main Street Branch beginning at 6am.
Courts’ Country Manager, Clyde de Haas, who is usually a regular competitor in the race leading by example among staff will take the roadways for the 3km Health Run aspect of the annual race that is also expected to attract participants from corporate and civil societies.
Courts will award the ‘First Place Courts Finisher’ in the 3km ‘Health Run’ $20,000 with second and third place finishers receiving $15,000 and $10,000 respectively. Camille Crandon, from the Main Street office, took home top honours among the females last year.
Makida Blake (Operations) and Trudy Abrahams (Marketing) completed the course second and third in that order last year. Among the men, Kevon Cummings (Mahaica) was the winner ahead of Joel Hunte (Main Street) and Silvanus Goodridge (Bargain Centre).
There will be some new challengers among the staff this year with the defending top finishers in competition mode already. The aim of this aspect of the race is to promote health and fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Interested persons can register at Courts, Main Street.
The 3km Health Run usually attracts participants from a wide-cross section of society, including the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Wartsila, Star Party Rental, Banks DIH Limited and a host of other stakeholders.
