The Banks DIH Guyana Classic International Badminton Tournament started Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with the first sessions at 10:00am to 1:00pm. Surname attended with 16 players to participate in the Under-11, 13 & 15 Events.
The Opening Ceremony was held with the Director of Sports, Mr. Neil Kumar, making the feature address to the visiting & local players. President of the GBA and the Official from Suriname Ms. Olivia Wijntuin also made some short speeches. President of the GOA, Mr. Juman was also present at the opening.
The Surinamese and Guyanese players both sang their countries national anthem and the Tournament was then declared open.
A total 12 Guyanese players advanced to yesterday’s finals after good performances on Saturday.
