A garbage collector man is currently nursing a punctured lung at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation
(GPHC), after he was reportedly stabbed in the back by his brother-in-law on Monday.
Vickram Narine, 33, said that his brother-in-law who lives with him, stabbed him around 19:30 hours, after he had a fight with his wife.
Narine, of 98 Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, said that the fight started when he returned home from work, and decided to “dish out some food to eat”.
He alleged that his wife was in a “drunken” state, and decided to hit the plate of food out of his hand and slap him.
Narine said that he retaliated by slapping her and caused her to “cry”. The garbage collector said that his wife’s brother was alerted by her crying and immediately “ran downstairs and started to fight” with him, dealing several “cuffs and kicks” to his body.
While wresting with his brother-in-law in the house, Narine said his wife approached him from behind, and “held him down”. Narine said that it was during this time, that he was stabbed by his brother-in- law, who had a “knife” concealed in his pocket.
The garbage-man said that the matter was reported to the police, and his wife and brother-in-law were apprehended yesterday.
