Play in the Berbice Bridge Company (BBC) first division 50-Over knock-out cricket competition in the Ancient
County bowled off Sunday last with Quacy McPherson hitting the first century 105 (11×4 6×6) ) for West Berbice against D’Edward.
Along with Andrew Dutchin’s 58 (2×4 3×6), West Berbice reached 267 in 45.2 overs and then bowled out D’Edward for a 60 in response. Pacer Raun Johnson, off-spinner Krishnadat Ramoo and medium pacer Keith Fraser picked up three wickets each.
Fast bowler Romario Shepherd with 4-36 from 9 overs and off-spinner Steve Latcha’s 3-30 helped Universal Solution Bermine bowl out Young Warriors for 164 in 46.2 overs. In Bermine’s response, Shemroy Barrington fell for a chancy 36 to leave his team precariously placed at 70-4, Shepherd came in and took charge, slamming 56* (5×4 3×6) to lead Bermine to victory with four wickets to spare.
Leg-spinner Shawn Pereira snapped up 4-48 from 9 overs to help Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets bowl out Skeldon Community Centre for 154 in 31.2 overs. Rose Hall Town in reply lost Royston Crandon for 8 at 25-1, but Delbert Hicks slammed 85* (10×4 2×6) and Jason Sinclair 50* (4×4), featuring in an unbroken second wicket stand of 130 in 16 overs to see Rose Hall Town to a 9-wicket win.
All-rounder Loyydel Lewis put together 62 (3×4 1×6) as Port Mourant Universal DVD made 161 in 41.1 overs against Blairmont Community Centre. Left arm spinner Waqar Hassan collected 5-21 from 8.1 overs, the best bowling figures in their round.
Port Mourant Universal DVD then sent Blairmont packing for 107 in response; off spinner Devendra Thakurdeen led with 4-14 from 9 overs and leg spinner Amir Khan 3-10 from 9 overs.
Off spinner Quacy Mickle’s 5-37 from 9 overs was largely responsible for Police’s 3 wicket win over Edinburgh.
