Second round action in the Stag Beer sponsored East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) Senior League got off to an even start on Sunday last at the Victoria ground with both matches ending in 1-1 draws.
Contesting the feature game, top of the table Victoria Kings were held by BV Triumph United. The home team took the lead in the 36th minute when veteran Aubrey Gibson rocked the nets. The home side was hardly able to enjoy the advantage as another seasoned campaigner, Delroy Deen responded in like manner for BV four minutes later.
The opening game also produced a similar score line, bottom of the table Sparta United battling back against Golden Stars who took the lead 16 minutes on through Randy Stoby. Theon Carr secured an even share of the points for Sparta when he found the back of the nets in the 60th minute.
Three matches are slated for this weekend. On Saturday, Sparta will be in action again, this time against Buxton Stars from 16:00hrs at the Buxton ground. A double header is slated for Sunday back at Victoria, Buxton United will face Mahaica from 16:00hrs with the Kings taking on Ann’s Grove in the main attraction.
