Hill Foot Vipers and Kairuni Rising Stars recorded wins over Calcuni Club and Hill Foot Strikers when play in the Linden Softball Inter Community Championship continued last Sunday at the Bayroc Community Centre.
Vipers lost the toss, batted against Calcuni and amassed 222-7 in 12 overs. Avinash Mohabir led with 89 runs and Sham Lall, 59. Damion Campbell bagged 3-42 in 3 overs. In reply Calcuni were all out for 68 runs in the allotted 12 overs. Ivor Johnson top scored with 24. Avinash Mohabir grabbed 4-7 in 2 overs and Lamtie Hinds 4-24 in 3 overs.
In the second game Kairuni Rising Stars won by 3 wickets. Hill Foot Strikers batted first after losing the toss and reached 103-7 in 12 overs. Rajin Mohabir made 37 while Clint Patior grabbed 4-20 in 3 overs.
Rising Stars replied with 104-7 off 11 overs, Arnold Abrams and Marly Bharrat scored 16 and 14 runs respectively. Safraz Samaroo bagged 2-19 in 3 overs and Raj Dyal 2-30 in 3 overs.
In the lone female game, All Star Conquerors showed supremacy by hammering Swan Sports Club by 10 wickets.
Swan Sports Club were only able to score 58-7 in the allotted 12 overs, Jessica Adrian 21 and Shadana Adrian 15 were the top scorers. Allison Duncan had 2-14 and Malinda Jeffers 2-16 both in 3 overs.
All Stars Conquerors eased to 69 without losing a wicket. Rushelle McCurdy’s 37 and Charlene Isaacs’ 20 doing the job. All Stars will meet Wairuni in the finals on October 5, 2014. The next semifinal
will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
Bad Boys, the only male team from Linden left in the competition, will be looking for victory over Kairuni Rising Star. The event has been sponsored by Banks DIH, Regal Stationery and Builders Lumber Yard.
Meanwhile, the Bayroc Sports Club T20 Hard Ball competition commenced on Sunday last with Central Star taking on Bayroc who reached 213-8. Devon Belle hit 43 and Leon Moseley 42; Devon Belle bagged 5-14 and Delon Williams 4-15 for Central Star who were sent packing for 58. D. France made 25; A. Jones was the main wrecker with 3-25.
The competition continues this Sunday with two matches; Bayroc Sports Club taking on Christianburg Club and Uprising opposing Retrieve Warriors. (Jacquey Bourne)
