A post mortem report on the remains of Orlando Fredericks, called “Bull Dog”, whose body was found
minutes after he and two of his accomplices robbed a man at a shop in Albouystown Saturday night, found that he died from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.
The report also revealed that apart from the gunshot wound to his lower left side abdomen, there are no other injuries to suspect that the alleged bandit was beaten before he was taken to the hospital as was earlier reported.
The post mortem was done yesterday at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by Government’s Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh.
The police said that about 23:35 hrs Saturday night, two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, held up a man in a shop between James and Non Pareil Streets, Albouystown, and fled with the victim’s gold chain.
They further said that one of the perpetrators was later found on Sussex Street, Albouystown, with a suspected gunshot wound. He was identified as Orlando Fredericks.
An eyewitness to the robbery had told this newspaper that he saw three men on bicycles, with kerchiefs on their faces approach a man identified as “Omali,” and grabbed his gold chain.
The eyewitness said that “Omali” was talking with some men at the shop.
“I see when they get the chain, when they ride into different streets and then them men (‘Omali’ and his friends) left the shop. I don’t know if they went behind him (Fredericks) or what,” the eyewitness said.
This newspaper understands that the 22-year-old alleged bandit was shot by a friend of the victim but managed to ride away before collapsing at Punt Trench Dam, Albouystown, a short distance from where the robbery took place.
At Fredericks’s home on Sunday, his mother, Melissa Fredericks admitted that her son “was no angel” but claimed that he was good to her.
Mrs. Fredericks said that she was at work when her older son visited her and informed her that his sibling had been killed.
“He tell me that ‘Bull’ get shoot and he dead. I went straight to the hospital but I didn’t go see him. I send my husband to identify him because I couldn’t go in and see him,” the woman said.
She added that she was informed that her son and two of his friends had robbed a man at Albouystown and escaped.
“I hear the man friend shoot he but he ride away and then collapse. People say that they stand over he when he collapsed and shoot he again and then they beat he before they called in the police,” a tearful Fredericks had told this newspaper.
She added that she was informed that the police found the gold chain which her son had snatched from the man when they took him to the hospital.
Investigators are still looking for Fredericks’ accomplices.
