Outstanding performances by Trevor Smith and Dane Bynoe guided TNT to victory
when the final of the Champion of Champions Dominoes tournament was contested on Wednesday night last at Faye Joseph residence, Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt.
Smith marked the maximum 18 games and Bynoe supported with 16 as TNT scored 72 games to thump Phantom on 64 and Trouble Shooters, who drew the bye to the final, 60. Colin Downs registered 17 and Rawl Cameron 15 for Phantom while William Sargeant made 17 for Trouble Shooters.
In the semi final encounter Phantom marked 67 games to beat TNT with 65 and Pacesetters 59. Downs chalked up 17 and Condrade Charles made 16 for the winners while Trevor Smith who was selected to play every round due to TNT fielding only five players scored 34 games and Dane Bynoe 16. Ricardo Khan and Avinash Boodhoo scored 15 each for Pacesetters.
Smith was given the man-of-the-match award while TNT took home a trophy and $100,000, the runner up a trophy and $50,000 and third place $20,000. The competition was sponsored by President of the Georgetown Dominoes Association Faye Joseph and George Griffith Mining Company.
Meanwhile, William Sargeant will be hosting a 15-team 20/20 tournament on Sunday at Faye Joseph’s residence starting from 14:00hrs. Entrance fee is $10,000. The winner will pocket a trophy and $90,000, the runner up $40,000 and third place $20,000.
