It seems that one construction company is not taking stealing lightly.
BK Group of Companies has again published names of employees who are accused of stealing.
Four staffers along with seven others were released on station bail Wednesday night after allegedly stealing 250 bags of stone valued $180,000 on Sunday.
According to the company, the interception was made on Sunday at approximately 09:30h at the Parika Beach, where the crew was waiting on the tide to rise to return to BK Quarries in the Mazaruni.
The four BK Group employees – a captain, engineer and two sailors – allegedly collaborated with others, including women, all from the Parika outfall area to steal the stone.
The 15 tonnes of stone were removed without permission from BK’s vessel, MT Gail, and placed on an old wrecked barge, Alana 3.
The stolen stone, some of which was already bagged, was taken to the Parika Police Station following the interception. Investigations are continuing. The alleged perpetrators are expected to be charged and placed before the court.
A few months ago, BK also released the names of several staffers fingered in a racket of stealing parts from the company’s equipment. That matter is reportedly still in court.
