Shortly after sharing a press briefing with Caribbean Motor Racing Association (CMRA) Chairman Ray Rahaman recently, President of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club John Carpenter announced September 28, 2014 as the next scheduled engagement for local drivers.
Carpenter was at the time reporting on the performances of the local drivers who participated in the second leg of the CMRA at Wallerfield in Trinidad and Tobago where Group 4 driver Danny Persaud stole the spotlight from his regional counterparts.
At the briefing it was discussed the importance of local competitors coming out in their numbers to afford Guyana the opportunity to get to the final leg of the Series in Jamaica with the maximum amount of points and a chance to win the overall Caribbean title.
Carpenter said the local competitors will have the chance to test their machines readiness at the upcoming Race Meet, referring to it as the precursor for the big showdown in November where the best drivers and riders in the Region are expected to attend.
He said he expects most if not all the local racers to take to the starting grid as Guyana continues its bid to be well prepared for the anticipated showdown against what is clearly going to be a strong foreign invasion from the other territories.
As customary, all the categories are anticipated to be fully booked and fans could look forward to a day of keen rivalry.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s Kristian Jeffrey leads the CMRA individual points standing with 85 points and he is followed by Danny Persaud who is 11 adrift, while another Guyanese Paul Vieira has 43. In the Country standings, T&T leads on 314 followed by Barbados with 300, Guyana in third on 297 and Jamaica in the cellar on 151.
