Guyana Tractor and Equipment (GUYTRAC) held the launching of its debut supply of American made, “Crown batteries”, yesterday at its Alexander Village branch.
These batteries will replace the company’s previous supply of Chinese “Powerhouse” batteries.
Present at the launch, was the Vice-President of the Crown Battery Company Group, John Connel, who conducted a workshop to educate GUYTRAC employees on the internal features of the Crown batteries.
Connel said that the company uses “more lead” to produce the Crown batteries, which allows the battery to store more energy, making it stronger and more durable than other competing brands.
“Guyana Tractor and Equipment is now the only authorized distributor because of their commitment to quality, customer service, and the community,” he said.
He noted that more lead means more cost, but he was insistent that the “Crown Factory” in the United States of America, produce batteries in an efficient and cost effective manner.
He said that the batteries are expected to last at least three to five years.
According to Sheldon Seabra, the Accountant and Office Manager of GUYTRAC, the company has embarked on a renewable three-year contract with the American battery suppliers, to supply a superior quality of automotive and heavy duty batteries to Guyana.
Seabra said that the agreement was signed with the Crown Battery Company in June, and sale commenced in July.
He also said that GUYTRAC will be exploring new grounds with the Crown Battery Company, to supply “solar batteries” to the Guyanese market in the near future.
