The Alness Turf Club situated at Alness Village Corentyne Berbice is once again gearing to run off another horserace meet.
The facility which was once classified as among the best in the country is to hold its second meet for the year.
Close to $4.5M up for grabs and a total of seven races are billed for the day’s card with attractive cash incentives and trophies at stake.
With this being the second meet billed for the entity in more than two years, horseracing fans are expected to come out in their numbers. So far over 30 of the country’s top horses have taken entry for the day’s meet. The events listed to be contested are the A and lower 1600M event for a first prize of $1M and trophy with a total purse of over $2M.
The F and lower event will see the horses gallop over 1200M for a winner’s pocket of $350,000 and trophy. The G and lower event over 1400M has a first prize of $275,000 and trophy. The ‘I and lower1200M even will see the animals racing for a first prize money of $200,000 and trophy.
The animals in the ‘J1’ class event will be competing for $170,000 winners money and trophy over 1000M. The race for animals classified J3 and lower will compete for a winners money of $140,000 and trophy over 1100M. The K and lower event will fetch a winning prize of $90,000 and trophy over 1000M.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and the organizers.
