Police attached at the Charity Outpost have arrested four men in the stabbing to death of 21-year-old, Raphael Danns, a/k ‘Singh’ formerly of Grant, Anna Regina, in the Lower Pomeroon.
Danns, who worked as a miner in the Puruni area, sustained a single stab wound to his heart. He died before receiving medical attention, after he was transported to the Oscar Joseph Hospital, Monday night. The incident allegedly occurred at a shop, at Malarabo.
A police report indicated that they are investigating the alleged murder of Raphael Danns, 21, of Grant Anna Regina, Lower Pomeroon River, which occurred at about midnight on Monday.
Investigations so far have revealed that Danns and another man were imbibing alcohol during which an argument ensued and Danns was stabbed, allegedly to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the Oscar Joseph Hospital. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
Relating the incident, Danns’ mother, Beverley Danns, said she is convinced that her only son was killed because of an old grievance he had with the suspect, who remains at large. The aggrieved mother said she and her other two daughters and her husband Kevin Danns were at their Grant Anna Regina home when a man called Anson France came calling, Monday night.
Mrs. Danns said France exclaimed to Kevin “come see wha they do to ‘Singh’.” Mrs. Danns, a mother of three, said her husband left and went to the shop where the incident allegedly occurred. Her daughter Raquel, accompanied her father.
Danns was later pronounced dead by a doctor at the Hospital. Police have reportedly recovered the murder weapon, said to be a kitchen knife, on one of the prime suspect’s accomplices.
Investigations are continuing.
