The second Nereid’s Yachting Rally will be hosted by Guyana, Suriname and Saint Laurent, French Guiana, with yachts departing from Trinidad & Tobago and arriving in the Essequibo River tomorrow, Friday 5th September.
This was disclosed during a Press Conference hosted yesterday at the Ministry of Tourism Boardroom. Present were Tourism Authority representatives and two senior members of the Police Force.
Proprietor of Hurakabra Resort and Tourism Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) representative Kit Nascimento explained that the yachts will be anchored off Hurakabra River Resort, Essequibo River – where a “Welcome Reception” will be hosted by the Minister of Tourism (ag), Industry & Commerce, Irfaan Ali, next Thursday, 11th September – and will depart Guyana for Suriname on the following Wednesday, 17th September.
He further explained that eleven yachts are participating in the Rally. The first two, Wind Whisper and Whistler, sailed from Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday last, and are expected to arrive and clear in Customs and Immigration at Bartica tomorrow, and then anchor off the Hurakabra River Resort. The other yachts will begin sailing from Trinidad & Tobago during the week and are all expected to be at anchor by next Wednesday, 10th September.
“A number of feature hospitality events have been organized while the Rally is in Guyana, including the hosting of a “Beach Party” by Hurakabra River Resort in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Guyana Tourism Authority on Sunday, 14th September, and visits to Karao Village and Marshall Falls, hosted by the Regional Administration.” Nascimento also disclosed that “The visiting yacht crews will also be afforded the opportunity to visit Kaieteur Falls and other tourist destinations while in Guyana.”
