A 61-year-old man was yesterday granted $150,000 bail after he was charged in a $2.4M toilet paper fraud conspiracy.
Harold Sampson also known as “Tom Dulie” appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court heard that on June 1 last, Sampson conspired with persons to defraud Guyana Soft Touch of 1,300 bales of toilet tissue which has a value of $2,470,000.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Michael Grant did not reveal the details of the crime. Grant did not object to bail thus it was granted. The case is set to be called again on September 30, before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Kaieteur News understands that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
