Dear Sports Editor,
On the matter of chess player Taffin David Khan and his identical name being on the ‘terrorist’ list; Quite serious and a matter that should not be left to the individual alone.
The Foreign Affairs arm of the Guyana Government should get seriously involved, as it is one of its citizens being observed and marked as a would be terrorist, hence his every movement would be followed and recorded. There are possible spin-off problems, like traveling by air to any place, and of course getting an American visa under any circumstance, like seminars,
further studies or vacation.
Taffin David Khan is a marked man and might soon suffer psychological trauma. His situation should be taken seriously by the Government of Guyana and that should be immediate.
My side notes are:
1. Get a name change
2. Stay clear of all social media websites for a while by closing all such accounts
Finally one item that bestirred my imagination is whether Taffin David Khan in using the internet ever did any of the following:
3. Visited any so called terrorist web site?
4. Made any monetary contribution via the internet to appeals from any web site asking for monetary help?
5. Made any written comments on conflicts raging all over the world in favour of the ‘terrorist side’ as against the other side?
We have had a few people in Canada suddenly finding themselves on such ‘lists’, and they have had to fight with the help of the government to get their names cleared.
Taffin David Khan should pester Foreign Affairs to get the Guyana Government in action to clear his name from this life-time sentence.
