The inclement weather had the last say yesterday as the Guyana Football Rugby Union (GRFU) was forced to postpone the scheduled double header which was set for the National Park.
According to PRO Esan Griffith, the Organisers were forced to cancel the two games in the GRFU organised 10s’ tournament after the playing conditions were deemed too dangerous for the players’ safety following rain which left certain parts of the outfield saturated with water and the ground in an unplayable state.
The Organisers, however, agreed that the games will be played at a later date and the two scheduled matches for next week will remain as planned.
In the matches that were scheduled to be played, undefeated Hornets were to tackle the University of Guyana in the opening game, while the Guyana Defence Force was pitted against Caribs.
Hornets who drew with Caribs in their opening encounter and then beat the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) in their next fixture leads the points’ standing with six points and they are followed by UG and the GDF on four points apiece, while Caribs are in the cellar on two.
