The body found around 21:30 hrs on Wednesday on the East Coast Berbice (No.19) Public Road at Susannah Village has not yet been identified.
The deceased is of East Indian descent and appears to be in his 50s, medium build, dark in complexion, about 5’4″ in height, and was clad in a black “Nike” shirt. When the body was found it did not have any pants or underwear.
As investigations continue, the police are looking at the possibility that the man may have died as a result of an accident.
There reportedly are what appear to be tyre marks over sections of the body, some of which are said to be broken. However, according to information, there were no skid marks or fragments of any vehicles nearby, supporting the theory that the man may have been run over by a large vehicle. There are no houses close to where the body was found.
Residents in the area do not know the man and some suggested that he might have been a destitute or was killed and discarded there.
The body is at the New Amsterdam Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem examination.
