The hustle and bustle is on as preparation reached fever pitch for the much anticipated
Jumbo Jet Business establishment and Banks DIH multimillion dollar 8th annual Guyana Cup horserace spectacle and entertainment show which is slated for Sunday 24th August 2014 at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
Jumbo Jet business enterprise along with a bevy of sponsors including Beverage Giants Banks DIH is making sure that the ‘Sports of Kings’ takes centre stage on race day. Sprucing up work on the venue including the main grandstand, the track, paddock stables and officials’ viewing area have all been getting much need attention as the organizers leave no stone unturned for the day.
With the kind of hype being created the event is expected to attract a record crowd this year.
Nine races are carded for the day and over 100 of the country’s best horses including a number of new imports entered.
The programme includes the C1 and lower race with a staggering $7.5M prize package up for the taking with the winner racing away with a lavish $4M and the Guyana Cup trophy. The 3 year derby has a mouthwatering $2M and trophy for the winner.
The Two year old West Indies Bred event has a staggering $1.5M and trophy up for the taking.
The E class and lower contest will see the winner racing away with $800,000 and trophy, G1 and lower horses will battle for a pole position taking of $600,000 and trophy, a similar prize the two year old Guyana bred horses will compete for.
The H class champion gets to runaway with $450,000 and trophy. The ‘I’ class top runner goes home with $350,000 and trophy, while the top performer in the J class gallop will pocket $250,000 and trophy.
Apart from the enthralling horseracing action expected, lots of added attractions for both adults and kids will be part of the activity.
Incentives will also be available for the top Jockey, the runner up, top stable and champion trainer. Free parking and programmes will also be available.
